Only Dts Output?
« on: January 07, 2008, 02:51:00 PM »

In Avalaunch, if I go into the settings, there is an area where it shows me audio settings. It lists DTS, Stereo, Mono, and others. Of these, only DTS is enabled, the others are all disabled. If I try to change any of these settings, it tells me this can not be changed while the HDD is locked.

Now in XMBC, I have noticed that if I watch movies on a regular TV with stereo speakers built-in, using the standar XBox AV cable (Yellow/Red/White RCA connections) the voices sound low, and the music and sound effects are unusally louder. If I connect the XBox to my theater system, using the XBox connector with digital audio output, my system receives the sound in DTS or 5.1 sound correctly. So it seems to me that the XBox is still trying to output 5.1 or DTS sound when I have only the RCA cables connected to the stereo TV. I have even checked the XBMC audio settings, and they are correctly set to simple Stereo output. I checked the XBox original dashboard, and the Digital option is gone, and I have only Mono, Stereo, and Dolby available as choices. So the XBox is seeing the cable change correctly.

I'm thinking these settings in Avalaunch are forcing DTS output. Can anybody confirm? Anybody know how I can change these settings?
