Joytech Hd Av Cable
« on: October 05, 2007, 01:53:00 PM »

Here's what happened.  I bought a new HDTV and so i was looking around for an HD adapter for the xbox.  I finally found one, but it was not the original one by microsoft, its from Joytech.

Anyway, what happens is that this cable has component, composite (w/ audio), s-video and digital.  There is a switch on the cable to select between component and composite/s-video.  When i have it set to s-video it works fine and all.  Except when i have it set for component it doesn't work at all, i get nothing on the screen and the xbox powers on automatically even after i turn it off.  The light keeps flashing green and yellow, and i get nothing on the screen.

Please help,

Thanks

Thats what happens when you dont have a cable plugged in at all, because when I use the MS adapter it works fine when I dont have the box hooked into any cables

you can't use the switch while the xbox is on. you will have to turn it off then do the switch. if you are already doing that then maybe it is a faulty cable

I have tried swtiching while the xbox is shut off, but the problem still persists.  Once the xbox is off, and i switch the setting on the selector (between composite and component) the xbox automatically powers up and starts flashing with nothing on the screen, all black and no audio. It doesn't even begin loading to dash, only black screen and green/orange flashing.

Should i attempt to "fix" the cable?

that is very strange. a cable making your xbox start up
i don't think any cable should be able to do that. maybe there is a problem with the pic (microcontroler) it controls the video mode selection, the led's and the power.
I could be wrong about this, maybe a cable can boot the xbox?
this seems to be universal advice: try the cable on another xbox
