You will need a component cable and change your xbox region to NTSC (if its a pal box).

Thanks, ok, at the moment I'm just using the std cable without the SCART adapter into my AV amp ie Composite video in & L / R Audio. I assume there's adapters out there that will allow me to convert to Component video and seperate audio.

If I change over to NTSC and change the resolution (without a component cable) will it black screen i.e leave me with no way of seeing to switch it back ?

Thanks,

J

I don't think it will allow you to change to a higher definition if you are still using the standard composite cable.
there would be no point anyway. if you change over to ntsc and your tv only supports PAL you might get a garbled image or none at all.
you will need either the microsoft component cable or a 3rd party cable
I don't understand why microsoft did not enable high definition with PAL xboxes. it doesn't really make sense because component video has nothing to do with pal or ntsc

thats a pretty dumb reason for microsoft.
btw does anyone know, is there actually any hardware difference between ntfs and pal xboxes?

AFAIK, the EEPROM code is the only difference.  happy.gif
