Slow Network Transfers
« on: July 21, 2003, 03:21:00 PM »

hey guys.
Ok so I have my X-Box plugged into my computer to transfer files back and forth. When I first started it was going fast and then for some reason started getting REALLY slow (4kb/s or less) and so I tried everything to fix it. Nothing seemed to work so I bought a new Ethernet card and everything has been going great. But starting again earlier today it started losing all of it's speed again. I have no idea why as nothing has changed settings wise sicne the last time I used it at a fast speed (yesterday). I have it networked using 2 ethernet cards. One plugged into my modem and one into the X-Box, so no routers/hubs/switches involved. The X-Box is connected to my computer using a cross-over cable.

Any ideas as to why it just suddenly dropped all of its speed? I haven't changed any settings or anything at all. I was just transferring Amped to my computer's hard drive from the X-Box cd rom. If it makes any difference the speed dropped when it got to a file named "music.xbp"

Thanks in advance for any help.
