Xbox - No Video/sound
« on: September 03, 2007, 09:45:00 PM »

A little back story -

my Xbox is modded, Xecuter chip, yada yada. Everything works fine with regular A/V cables.

However, when I try using MS's hi-def pack, I get no video or sound from the cables. The TV sits at a black screen. I've tried several different TVs. The cables work fine on other, non modded Xboxs.

I tried using Enigma's video reset program, no luck.

When I switch my TV to the component input, I briefly get sound for about 1 second.

I'd really like to figure this out, new HDTV and everything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Any help would be lovely.

I should have added that I get no video with the chip on or off.

what dashboard are you using?
do you have a pal xbox? what exactly did you do with Enigma's program?
it must just be that you have your xbox set to a video mode that the tv doesn't support.

Originally EvoX, now using the evoX shortcut to launch XBMC 2.1.
My xbox is NTSC.
Used Enigmah's video select disc to make sure it was set to NTSC.

I can't figure out whats wrong with it.

You can't edit hi-def video options without the hi-def pack plugged in.
If the pack is plugged in, I don't get any video, even on the MS Dash.

its probably a hardware problem. check that the plug is clean, and it could be that the inductors are dead. look here: http://jansforums.jconserv.net/viewtopic.php?t=76

oh yeah, are you getting any error codes on the ring of light?

No error codes, composite cables work fine...

Component cables don't work.

You mentioned that the cables work with a different Xbox on a different TV, but have you tried your Xbox with the HD cables on a different TV? Try every possible combination of TV's and Xboxs to rule out either your Xbox, the cables, or your TV.

Yes, I've tried every combination, except getting different HD cables for my xbox.

ok then
so its not your cable - they work on other xboxes
its not your tv - you tried different tv's
its not the settings? - doesn't work with retail bios
its not your encoder - composite cables work

it could still be a hardware thing. maybe some inductor or resistor has been damaged, one which only affects the component output. I don't have a schematic tongue.gif, so i couldn't tell you which one

other than that. i am out of suggestions
