These are my experiences fitting a component cable to my xbox
The Component cable (red, green, blue plugs) will give you HD on a compatible TV.
PAL xboxes need to be switched to NTSC to run HD
Use 'Video Select - enigma' to change
ndure modded boxes need to have the virtualised eeprom modified using the same tool.

I just bought a HDTV LCD TV capable of 720p and thought how great would my xbox look on that, but alas it wasn't great, just ok.

I have:
1 x PAL 1.0 Xbox TSOP flashed
1 x PAL 1.4 Xbox Softmodded (ndure - krazie 1.1 installed)
component cable
81 inch LCD TV HD 720p

When attaching the 1.4 xbox to the TV via component cable nothing really happened
I read a few post regarding what to expect and found that I needed to change the settings in the MSDash to enable 720p.
OK so I went to the MSdash and found only PAL 60 settings yes or no.  hmmmm
More reading..
Found that only ntsc boxes will do the HD stuff?
OK so need to convert my xbox to ntsc, l needed video select - enigma v.2
Ran the tool from xbmc (extracted the downloaded ISO image transfered to xbox)
loaded the Real MSDash (not the virtual c version) by booting with DVD tray out.
attempted to change the video settings, same as before only PAL setting available.

Of course the xbox was softmodded, and so, the tool was only moddifying the virtualized eeprom.
I loaded xbmc and ran the virtualised MSDash.
Sure enough the NTSC settings were there, set them to 720p enabled.
loaded xbmc from a cold boot, still no hi-def
But xbmc uses that virtual eeprom, and so should work yeah?

That was it, i'd had it, I swapped xboxes.
plugged in the tsop flashed box and repeated the above.
-ran video select - enigma.
rebooted - ran MSdash (there is virtual c on this box)
changed the settings to 720p
XBMC was sweet in glorious HD!

so what about the softmodded box...
I still persisted...
swapped the boxes again this time i had read the unleash can do HD, so i loaded it..
unleash was in HD! wtf.
xbmc still wasn't.
simple, must be xbmc.
reloaded xbmc completely fresh.
XBMC was now in HD!

So over all if it wasn't for a screwed up XBMC config it would have worked easier,

I have a softmodded (ndure+hotswap) XBOX PAL v1.6. Everything worked as described (HD in both XBMC and UnleashX, in MSDash too), but when I restart the xbox  (by turning it off and then back on) it's all back to PAL thus no HD is available anymore.

I am running MSdash from from c:\xboxdash.xbe ... is that the correct file for a softmodded box?

Generally whatever I do with Enigma only works until I cold boot the box - then it's back to PAL. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
