No Picture On Tv ?!?!?!?!? Please Help
« on: August 31, 2007, 04:05:00 PM »

Hi dzivas,
Do you have access to a TV that supports NTSC or PAL-60?
I ask because component video is NTSC (60Hz) and your video mode might have got changed when you plugged the component cable in. It's just a thought, though I guess if you tried a component cable you also had a tv with component input to test it on... Maybe it's stuck in PAL-60... I had this happen once after using my xbox at a friend's house on his PAL-60 TV. When I came home I wasn't able to get a picture until I realised my TV Tuner card in my PC could accept NTSC and I could used Enigmah Video Mode Switch to change to PAL.

If it is not a 50Hz/60Hz (PAL/PAL-60/NTSC) problem then I can only think it might be a problem with the AVIP (Audio Video Interconnect Port) on the back of the xbox or some other setting in the dash or something.

if your video was in the wrong mode you would still get some distorted picture using your component cable. and i don't think the xbox can just change modes like that on its own. if you are sure your tvs are working and your cables are not broken, maybe you fried the encoder in the xbox or something.
do you know what happened before it stopped working?

is the ring of light showing any error codes?
can you hear sound through the sound plugs when you start it up?
if you are sure it is not your TV or your cable, and you haven't changed any setting or anything in the bios, maybe the encoder chip in the xbox is fried from static or something, if this is the case, your xbox is probably not very useful anymore...

try borrowing a cable from someone, one which you know works and try it on their TV that you know works. and check out the AVIP socket to make sure it isn't dirty or anything. other than that i don't know

If your still getting problems after trying yaywoop's suggestions, then you need to check the inductor L4A1 on the motherboard to see if its gone open circuit.
Check this thread on a different forum:
http://jansforums.jc...wtopic.php?t=76
Don't worry if your L4A1 is looks or is positioned slightly different, the L4A1 part location number is the same for all versions.
Wouldn't hurt to measure the other inductors as well: L4A2, L4A3 and L4A4.
Please let us know what you find.

@DarkMatter

Ive measured L4A1 with my multimeter and its alright (i couldn't find other ones beacause my motherboard is different than this 1.6 version) so no luck for me!
