Hidef With Madcow Box..
« on: July 13, 2007, 01:07:00 PM »

Hi,

I have an XBOX 1.1 PAL box and heres what Ive done..

- Used enigma video switch to switch it to NTSC mode.
- Flashed my x2 pro with 5035 bios that I have patched for vga.
- Made my 3RCA->VGA connector cable for my compatible monitor.

The madcow box has component and svideo switch but as I do not have a component cable tv i am unable to see the screen at all (When switched to component) and because of this i cant see if the HD options are available through the MS dashboard.

Basically what Im trying to do is use the component output from the madcow box with my home built RCA->VGA cable for one of my spare monitors..

Can anyone confirm if this Madcow box is HD capable as I cannot find any info about it anymore.
If it is can someone inform me of the keystrokes that need to be performed once i access the Video setup menu in MS dashboard.

Many thanks..

Ok,

My Madcow box does support HD capabilities but I did build a cable anyways with a female VGA port cut from an old graphics card..

Things Ive learnt along the way.

When HD mode is activated using switches 2+3 and your xbox has no display it can be quite difficult to navigate to the MS dashboard. Which I did manage to do although the preferred option really is to install Avalaunch and enable the mode in their whilst in normal tv viewing mode..

I have three monitors and only 1 of them has Sync-On-Green capability, unfortunately the monitors colours have been knackered for some time and it is unable to do 720p.

OK so heres my question..Ive decided I'll build the Sync Circuit with the L1881 Sync decoder but I do have a couple of questions..

- The 0.1uF at rswww.com (Rs components UK) there are various ones with various Voltages listed. Does the voltage matter at all..

- Also the same question for the 680k although some people have stated a 470k or even doubling to 960k so I would like to know what one is preferrable..

- Lastly the portion of the Images where the 680k or whatever together with the 01.uF. Is that exactly how I would solder it. Sorry but I have no electronics knowledge at all..

If someone could even list the UK part numbers for RS components or Maplins when they built theres it would be very much appreciated..

Thanx in Advance...

Yo, that was me building my VGA adapter with 470k resitors.  If its between 470k and 680k ohms then your good.  You shouldnt have to double up to 960k.  And as far as voltage goes too, it doesnt matter.  But its not even worth your time to get that stuff on the internet.  Go to radio shack for those resistors and capacitors, so you can always take them back if they don't work.  But do buy the LM1881n chip off the internet.  Im trollin these forums right now so you can get fast responses from me.

EDIT:  If you have no electronics knowledge at all, then your screwed.  This requires focus and good soldering as well.  Maybe practice on something else first, then take it to the real deal.

My soldering skills are upto the job without a doubt. But I dont really
understand the 680k and the 0.1uf is it solderered just like it looks.

ah yes, just have one wire coming in, then the resistor and the capacitor soldered together, and then one wire coming out.  Obviously not in that square looking shape....

Can someone in the UK who has built the circuit for Non SOG capable monitors list the site and the part numbers of the components they bought to get it working well..

I have to know exactly what parts to get before I spend any money. Thanks in advance..

Hi,

I have build a VGA cable for my xbox (SOG).
I'm using Ndure with NKPATCH (xbox v1.4 NTSC)

When I connect my cable with mode 2+3 enable, i don't have any options in ms-dash to enable HD.
My tv is not HD compatible, the  cable is only linked to my xbox.
I can make screenshot from computer to configure my dash.

What's wrong ?

Sorry for my english,... i'm Swiss !
