At one time I used the ind-bios and would get random problems with my component output, my blue would disappear from the tv screen, my problem wasn't as severe though because I could just reboot and everything would go back to normal. Just for shits and giggles seeing as it is a similar problem to mine, reinstall the softmod, it could fix the problem. To me it seems like it could be a video sync problem because your monitor freezes. I no longer use the ind-bios and have had no problems since even though i use a different mod than you. Overall IMO, lose the softmod, they are notorious for glitches and poor operation. Try a tsop flash or get a chip if reinstalling the softmod doesn't work, i am not going to rule out the chance of it being a hardware problem because the xbox is driven with software and firmware, the components used inside the xbox will return alot more problems than you are having if it is a hardware issue. As well don't buy a chip until all chances of damaged hardware can be ruled out. All of this could be so simple that all that has gone wrong is a bent pin in the xbox's output connector, damage to the output adapter, or you are using a piece of crap for an adapter.
