Has anyone here bought a X2VGA adapter? I just placed an order for one and was told its on backorder.
Wanted to know what other peoples experiences where.

My personal experience with the X2VGA is that it is crap. It has a fuzzy picture even with HDTV resolutions, and 480i just looks like ass... for lack of better words.

That is why I created my VGA patchers, because they are significantly better looking than the X2VGA, or any other Component to VGA adapters out there.

I was very impressed with the image quality i got from the original x2vga.  Both 480p and 720p produced very sharp HD resolutions.  That being said, nothing beats native vga...thank you frosty. wink.gif

When i said that "nothing beats native vga", i was only referring to the xbox, and not the 360.  HDMI and DVI will generally give a better quality image.  But the xbox only supports analog video, so anything digital is a moot point.  Native VGA, only possible with Frosty's vga bios on a modified xbox, and the vga bios do not work with 1.6 xboxes, is the best possible video signal found on the xbox.  VGA is better then component.  And the xbox only supports 720p and 1080i HDTV resolutions; not 1080p.  And 99% of xbox games only support up to 480p, so it will be impossible to play them at any higher HD resolution.  Many applications for a modded console do support 720p and 1080i, though.  For example, XBMC.

360 A/V questions should be posted in the appropriate 360 A/V thread.  The only way a HDMI to DVI cable will work on the 360 is if your 360 has an HDMI port.  That cable will work if you have an HDMI 360.  And by all means if you get an HDMI 360, use an HDMI (or HDMI to DVI) cable with it for the best picture.  Do not use a transcoder (x2vga2) when you can get true digital or true vga out of the 360.  Both native HDMI and native VGA are better then the x2vga2.

I recently read this post on the AVS Forums that mentioned that the chip that the V2VGA 2 is based around (LMH1251) is not fully compatible with 1080p.

As the Xbox will only output a maximum of 1080i this shouldn't really matter unless you want to use a second source with 1080p.

After finding problems, finding they were as much to do with his monitor as the V2VGA 2 and then modding it, the final verdict from the person posting the thread was:

Can someone tell me if its possible to hook up the x2vga 2 with my Philips tv 26PF3320. It has no componement input; no HDMI input but only one DVI input. I'd like to try to get 1080p on my HD ready tv wink.gif
I already have the konig component cable for the xbox.

Thanks in advance!!

So you are saying that your HDTV only has DVI input?  No VGA?

If it has only digital input, then you cannot hook up the original xbox to it without some kind of digital to analog transcoder.  If you are referring to the 360, then you can get a cheap HDMI to DVI cable... this will work only if your 360 has HDMI.

If your DVI port on your TV supports DVI-A (analog), then you could get a simple vga to DVI-A adapter.  You then would be able to hook up your original xbox that way.

And the original xbox does not support 1080p.  But if your HDTV is an LCD and 1080p native, it will then upscale everything to 1080p.
