Hi-def Using A Pc Monitor?
« on: April 24, 2007, 04:15:00 PM »

I have a dell pc PC monitor that is 19 inches.... The max resolution is 1280 x 1024.

If I use a VGA adaptor can I use 1080i? And if I use 1280 x 720 is that the equivalent of 720p? Thats all I needed to know. Thanks!

Both homemade and commercial XBOX VGA adapters support 480p, 720p, and 1080i, but not all monitors support it.

Since 1080i = 1920x1080, I doubt that your LCD would be able to support it, but I guarantee it supports 480p and 720p for sure.

For future reference:

480p = 640x480 (also uses 720x480 in some cases)
720p = 1280x720
1080i = 1920x1080

Alright, thanks frosty!

Will homemade VGA adaptors work in 720P when the xbox is unmodded?

(ignore VGA here) And if im wanting 1080i LCD screen of sorts which would be better to purchase a PC monitor or a small LCD or plasma TV? I'm talking value wise and price wise. Don't need anything over 30".

For an unmodded XBOX, I would go with a small LCD HDTV.

It would be easier, and probably cost you alot less money, as any PC LCD that supports 1920x1080 is going to be expensive.   happy.gif
