I'd check the component cables for a bent pin inside the connector first off. Sounds like a bad sync, and if a pin is making poor connection, you could wind up with this from bad grounding to the video select for component.
Could also be a grounding problem on the Xbox port itself.

It's an LCD Widescreen, so I really prefer using the component over the composite.  I've tried unplugging it and plugging it back in a few times, it seems to have gone away for now.  The XBox has a 30 day return on it and I wanted to be sure it was ok, before I popped it open to mod it, and voided the warranty. wink.gif

Sounds promising, well...sort of. In that case, when you do open it, I'd check for a cold solder joint on the AV connector for component grounding/select and Y line. Check out the AV port diagrams that are available here..somewhere.
