Forcing 480p With X2vga2
« on: February 28, 2007, 02:41:00 PM »

I have an X2VGA2 and want to keep my backuped games on my xbox harddrive. The problem is that I can't play them off the harddrive because they are all automatically in 480i. For those of you that don't know what 480i is like with the X2VGA2, when you play in this resolution you can only view one half of the screen at a time and use a button to scroll the picture from left to right. In other words: unplayable.

I saw the thread with the hex edit, and I tried to do it. I didn't find the number in the xboxdash.xbe file, so I replaced a similar number and bricked my xbox. It was a quick fix thanks to my friend, but I wouldn't like that to happen again. Is there any other method?

I also heard about something called nkpatcher with progressive scan forcing etc. I have no idea what it is, but if it could help me I would be happy if someone would explain to me how to install it and get it working (I know how to FTP to my xbox, but that's about it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

Thanks in advance!

Are you using a softmod, or are you using a modchip? NKPatcher does do exactly what you need, but it is only designed to work with softmods...

Yeah, sorry but NKPatcher only works with softmods. There is currently no way to use 'Force480p' with modchips...

Try this.
Works on Debug dash
SHOULD work on Retail as well.

Search for
c7462820

Replace with
c7462800

Hope this helps

He means that he wants everything to be in 480p, not just the Microsoft Dashboard.

Well he needs to patch it so he can enable 480 in the dash.
Then he can do EVERYTHING in 480p.
By the way, there is a 480p bios. You just have to find it.

Um... setting 480p in the Microsoft Dashboard only allows that mode to be used, not all games support it though. So those games will not use 480p, they will use 480i regardless.

And there is no Force480p BIOS that I am aware of. If one indeed does exist, then let me know so that I can incorporate it's code into my VGA Patchers. But, AFAIK, NKPatcher is the only BIOS patcher I know of that offers Force480p, and it is only compatible with softmods.

NKPatcher cannot simply be downloaded, it has to be custom-made for your XBOX and softmod.

But, if you PM me with the following details I would be happy to make a custom NKPatcher for you:

1. What type of softmod are you using? (NDURE/Kingroach/UDE2/etc)

2. Do you use an 'F' drive only, or do you use 'F' and 'G'?

3. Where is your dashboard located? (Example: E:\Dashboard\default.xbe)

4. Your e-mail address (So that I can send you the NKPatcher files.)

Let me know if you'd like me to make one for you.
