Progressive Scan Problem.
« on: February 26, 2007, 02:48:00 PM »

So I have an executer 2 chip (had it installed for me) with lots of nice things in it including emus and such.

Had that done a couple years back then moved to USA (from UK).

Couldnt play my xbox due to voltage issues. Got a transformer to work it.

The executer dashboard (I assume thats which one it is) displays fine and I can play all my games (including PAL backups) on this console with no problem. However, on my HDTV I want to be able to play (the HTSC games that can do it) in 480p.

Despite changing the options to enable 480p, 720p and 1080i each time I play a game (in this case a copy of forza) it always outputs in 480i.

Any ideas what I can do to sort this out?

Apologies if this is in the wrong place which I suspect it is.

Also, when trying to get an update (for the dash) I get no joy. I'm assuming its too out of date (0.37.1207a build 536).

You need to turn your HD options on in the official 'Microsoft Dashboard', no other dashboard will allow you to activate them but the official Microsoft one. After they have been turned on in your Microsoft Dashboard, then, and only then, can you enable them in other applications.

damn. unfortunately there are no HD options in the default MS dashboard. Well that I can see. Remember that this is a PAL xbox brought over here.

The only options I get in video is widescreen/normal and whether to enable PAL60 or not.

You only get the high def options if you're running NTSC (use enigmah switcher) and you have to use a high def av lead pack.

What is enigmah switcher? How can I use/get it?

I am able to FTP with my xbox if that helps?

I googled it and burned it to CD. It won't boot on either my MS dash or the executor dash.

Any other options?

Did you burn it on a CD or a DVD? My box only accepts DVDs no matter the file size. Mine boots no problem.

Just burned it to DVD-R. Sweet. Now I could enable the settings in the dashboard!

Progressive scan is here to stay.

Thanks to all.

I have a further "problem".

I thought it better to post here than in a new thread.

So I've got some games that are capable of 720p (according to their cases of course). However They are only displaying in 480p. AFAIK I have enabled ALL modes in both dashboards. Is there something further I should do?

My TV is 720p native (also capable of 1080i).
