Ahh Help!
« on: January 29, 2007, 06:35:00 PM »

I decided i was going to install composite cables for my xbox and i Fallowed L33's guide :here
And I solderd all 3 cables, red, white and yellow, and i solderd switch ONE (I havn't attached the switch yet ive jsut touched the 2 wires together) and when i plug it in i get fuzzy white and black lines. What did i do wrong???
Ahhhh im so scared, becuase i even undid the switch and plugged in the scart default connector and i get no picture!!!
I got a few pictures...before my camra died here:

This is my version of the diagram:

Did i mess up on soldering (if you can see...)?

Question:
switch one(on l33's diagram), leads to pin 9 and 10. What does that mean?? I pretty much just solderd a wire from each pin (9 and 10) and touched them together this is correct right? And when i install the switch what wire goes to which prong of the switch?

Check my post on anther thread to see if you damaged L4A1:

I hope it helps.
If you don't have a V1.6, then only the first picture will be of concern to you.
Please let us know how you go.

Ok so heres what happening.
I need to make a legend for an easier referace.
Video 2 = Default SCART cable
video 3 = New composite cable

When i plug SCART into Video 2 without the new composite cables i get full picture and sound, as normal. When I plug in Composite cables into video 3 ONLY WITH the SCART cable still plugged in, do i get video but NO audio. Once i unplug the SCART cable the screen goes back to black and fuzzy.
Any ideas?

I now get VIDEO and SOUND when i  plug in my composite cables but i onyl get these with my composite and my default cable plugged in at once. Once i remove my default cable i do not recieve sound or video and m y front LEDs flash as if there is no picture.

So far, when i touch the switch wires together nothing happens at all:P

QUOTE(timdog82001 @ Jan 30 2007, 08:01 AM) View Post

if everything works properly when you have the scart plugged in, then there's some problem with the pin 9/10 connection.  If you want any help beyond that, i would suggest getting some close up higher resolution images if you can get them.  About that glitchy thing, I dunno.  My xbox has been doing that lately too, even though I haven't really done anything.  On mine, I think it must be something with the LPC, cause that's the only thing i've touched with a soldering iron.

I just realized, in those pictures, you don't have pins 9 and 10 connected, you have pins 7 and 9 connected.  At least it sure looks like it, hard to tell with the bluriness in those pictures though.  Try double check that

Wow....
I wish I could fucking give you 1 000 000 dollars. I did solder to pin 7 and not 10.
This should be the problem. I would have never have found this out, not in a million years...well at least not tonight. I guess i was jsut to rushed and overthinkging and freakign out. Im sure this happens to alot of people. hahaha Omg. thanks, ill solder it to the right one tomorrow and give you a head up. Thanks man
