Looks to be an S/PDIF TOSLINK plug. Also, the coaxial is a digital audio connection -- terminated with an RCA plug.

Some advice for the switches:

Just hardwire mode 2. Use one single switch to switch between mode 1 and 3.

Mode 1+2 will give you composite video, S-video, analog audio and digital audio.

Mode 2+3 will give you component (YPbPr) support, VGA (with the proper software), analog audio and digital audio.

Only if you want to use SCART (which WOULD be insane to add to the back of your Xbox, although it would also be pretty cool) you will need mode 1+2+3. Mode 1+3 was once used for VGA, but it is obsolete now.

Here is the original i think you are talking about, i have been looking at it for ages, and attempted the mod but did a really bad job of the motherboard, broke a few traces, but i have fixed all i think, but the xbox still wont output any video or audio with the standard cable, any ideas of how to fix.
