Neoya X2vga 2

(IMG:http://www.x2vga.com/images/x2vga2_pic1.jpg)

I just received my brand new Neoya X2VGA2!  It was shipped via airmail from Hong Hong or some place. I got it in less then two weeks.

Works and looks great! Crystal clear HDTV modes on my computer LCD and regular monitor.
I can only use 480i on the LCD however. But thats only because it (my LCD) doesn't support the other resolutions.

Get one while you still can!

Cool, glad to hear that it is good.

Your LCD probably only accepts 480p, not 480i; 480i sync is too low for computer monitors.  They did have a 480i fubared 'easy view' mode on the older models, and i'd guess on the new one as well, that allowed you to navigate through 480i images, but is unplayable at the res.

I'd be surprised if your monitor cannot display 720p. Unless it's max res is only 800x600, it should display it.

That x2vga is much better looking than my x2vga+ !! Swap?? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif);)

Oops!  Did I say 480i?

I mean my LCD will only display 480p. I can get 720p on there as well but there are several evenly spaced horizontal lines through the picture.
The LCDs native res is 1024x768. I have a regular CRT and all the modes look kick ass. But i work offshore in the gulf of mexico and i dont want to lug a big ol monitor around.
And yes the old X2 looked much better!

Kickin it old school

Yep, I bought the X2VGA2 the day after it was released. It's awesome! Works great on both my LCD and CRT monitors.

How high of resolution can you run games at on a fairly new (about 2 years old) CRT monitor?  It goes up to 2272 or whatever that one way up there is...I was hoping most games would be able to run at at least 800x600 or maybe even 1024x768 ... and for you guys, when you run the games, does it automatically put it into widescreen mode?  That'd be annoying, as my screen is 4:3 and it'd be quite the waste...

Thanks for the information in advance...I'm looking into buying one, just making sure it'll work and what the drawbacks are (so far, I don't see any...?)  Any games that don't work?

Also...the site (the official one) is trustworthy?  The person whose credit card I'm using is kinda not so eager to make a purchase to Hong Kong...

Most games will run in 720*480. A few might run at 1280*720 and 1920*1080 if you have both modes enabled in MS Dash. If you have disabled widescreen support in MS Dashboard, you will never see a game using a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Thanks for the answer. But if you disable 16:9 then I would venture to guess that games run in 4:3 but at a lower resolution?

oh yeah...and about the games that "don't work"...what's up with that?  Are there any?

I think I'm gonna buy one of these.

Ok, on my CRT i run 1080p. XBMC looks kick ass at that res. as far as games go the only ones that use 1080p that i have is Amped 2 and MX unleashed and they too look killer.

For god sakes! Buy one now!

Firstly it's 1080i, and I'm almost 100% certain that Amped 2 (and most likely MX although I've never played it) run only in 480p. I doubt they even do 720p as not many xbox games do (House Of the Dead, Soul Caliber 2 and The Warriors instantly come to mind as games that do. The only game that I know of that runs in 1080i is Dragon's Lair, or whatever it's called... the one with Dirk, which is a crap game anyways).

Resolution != aspect ratio. When using 4:3, the same resolution (720*480) will be used compared to 16:9. That's why you can have widescreen in 480p. wink.gif

Games which do not support 480p but only 480i. Most of the time, it is possible to add 480p by applying a patch or using a softmod with the latest NKPatcher.

I don't know if 480i games will work with a N2VGA2 or if this depends on the monitor.

Look nitpicker .........(IMG:http://images.fotosearch.com/bigcomps/CSK/CSK007/pr39332.jpg)

1080i, 1080p you know what i mean. Yes Amped 2s highest res is 720p not 1080i but MX unleashed runs at 1080i.

I just got an X2vga2 for my xbox (1st gen). It happends to be a hacked xbox (smartxx v2), and I am doing somehting wrong with the x2vga, or it is broken. i cant get it to work on anything, not my new 21" samsung lcd, not my friends 60" samsung plasma.

Has anyone got this to work on a hacked xbox (i.e. be able to see the bios loader and dashboard)?
I can't understand how to switch the output resolution to a higher mode away from 480i, b/c all i get is a blank screen when i try to use this thing.

oh yea, and neoya wont help me a bit, i've sent 5 emails to their sales team and no response.

thanks for any help!
