i think theres a softmod solution for using oldschools modified nkpatcher.  Im not sure which softmod form this is, check out the different methods of softmodding, or PM him about how that works.  I've softmoded a few times, but not with the VGA patched version.

I think the way that one works is that if its a component cable, it does VGA, otherwise its not.  looks like your PAL, so really i dont know, I'm in the USA.  good luck.

NKPatcher VGA doesn't work on v1.0 boxes.  You get a nice red screen.

don't forget, softmod + PBL needs BFM(bootable from media) version of the BIOS(can be patched easily from non-BFM version).

TSOP is opposite, never use BFM version BIOS for TSOP.

also when the VGA BIOS is loaded, and if you hook up to your TV and not a VGA monitor, the screen is gonna be green(in a different way, but still looks green, only now it's green on TV and instead of on a VGA monitor). The VGA BIOS detects what cable you have and reacts by outputting progressive mode or interlaced mode according to your video output cable. But there is the green issue.

So you're gonna want to think of ways to have an extra non-VGA BIOS handy, so you can load that one instead when you want to use on TV again for a extensive amount of time.

thanks for the great help guys....

i am very close to flashing my tsop with the vga bios.... but am looking [through searching] or might make it easier if you can tell me which bios to use....

obviously not the bfm versions so from this: ind-bios.5001.06.vga.b1-junkmonkey or ind-bios.5001.67.vga.b1-junkmonkey [whats the difference?] also there is a ind-bios.5003 out, but am assuming there is no proper vga support in it [although it says in the nfo ---Enable 480p so guessing thats through rgb/scart or something like that].....

also read that my lcd screen supports sync on green.... so hopefully after flashing the tsop it will work out without me messing around anymore.....

i can keep a 2nd bios on the HD so can always flash it for non vga.... although that is unlikely since most things i use will work in HD..... will change the 256kb bios to 1mb.....

I did the original way of flashing the tsop, i.e. soldering a point on the motherboard to enable tsop flashing... so i don't need to do anymore soldering there....

edit: 2 quick questions if u don't mind..... whats the md5 info so i can add that to the config of evo -x dashboard [its not in the read me].... and do i still need to use the config files for this bios from the original non vga bios pack that was released, i.e. iND-BiOS 5001

thanks again

67 is for when you want G drive to take over and continue from the point your HDD hits 137GB.

06 is for when you want F drive to keep going on and on beyond 137GB(if your HDD is smaller than 137GB this will be fine).

5003 supports no VGA in your particular case. The 480P in config means whether if you want to see the startup green blob in Progressive mode or not. (VGA softmod on top of 5003 will show VGA , but that's not what you necessarily want here)
So stick with 5001.

The thing about keeping a separate non-VGA BIOS is not just for non-HD displays, any high quality monitor or TV and even some HDTVs that do not like VGA will need this. Just keep it handy, you never know if you will need to use your XBOX on a non-VGA monitor but don't have non-VGA BIOS and have to watch green screen.

md5 is not needed to flash the BIOS using evo-x, just make a "bios" directory in the directory where your evoxdash.xbe(may have been renamed to something else) is and put your BIOS file in the "bios" directory. Don't forget that it has to be 1024KB in size, because yours is 1.0 XBOX.

BIOS works fine without config file, use config file if you want to change from BIOS default settings only, like changing fan speed or LED color or how the blob behaves, and if you do choose to use ind-bios.cfg(name of the config file, right?), put it in c:\(c drive root directory)

I HIGHLY recommend trying out on a glass tube VGA monitor when you have a change. You'll see some differences when you do.

correction: I said softmod on top of 5003 will show VGA, but 1.0 XBOX will only show broken VGA using that softmod method, so choosing TSOP was one of the possible good decisions.

BUT YOU WILL STILL GET GREEN IN A FEW OF THE GAMES(like Splinter Cell series, Top Spin, etc.).
Hardmod(chip, TSOP) cannot overcome this at this time.

nkpatcher softmod with VGA support solves the shortcomings of hardmod VGA but on a 1.0 XBOX it shows red(!) screen. 1.4 works fine. I for one hope this gets looked at.
