Is there a PC app that lets me create custom soundtracks like the ones in the M$ dash that i can just ftp over to my xbox? if so, where would i put them?

Yes there is. It's called Xbox Soundtrack Editor and I'm too lazy to look up the download link for you

. But yes, the program enables you to create and easily modify soundtracks on your Xbox via FTP. The only drawback (I found) is that you can only upload *.wma files; so you've got to convert your MP3's to WMA first.

That is because Custom Soundtracks are only in WMA-format. MS Dashboard/the games which support custom soundtracks can only decode those when they are encoded in WMA-format.

I agree that it is annoying to convert your favorite MP3's to WMA. You'll loose quality (again, since MP3 is already lossy) and it takes some time.

sorry but what would be an easy way to do the mp3>wma conversion? if nothing else i can try with Adobe Audition but that takes forever

Get Winamp 2.95 and an output plugin which can encode the output (the audiostream) to WMA-files, instead of decoding it to your speakers.

At least, that's the method that I would try.

ok i got STE and can convert to wma but what do i have to do to connect to my box and actually use it? i press connect and then type in my xbox's ip, ftp username and pass but it says it cant find soundtrack info and disconnects. anything special needed or what?

Try Virtual Xbox CD Ripper, it does the WMA conversion and upload automatically, pretty quick too.

I got the newest version of VXCR and it seemed to work at first but it now says that it cannot upload ST.DB

any ideas about what may be happening to make it not work?
