We have to work out if this problem is with the Xbox or an Evox problem. but other than that, it sounds like your TV cannot handle a PAL signal.
Do you get to see the startup animation ok?
Does the B/W happen only once Evox boots?
Have you tried booting a game directly without it loading Evox first? (insert disc, switchoff with disc in, turn on)
Can you FTP into Xbox once Evox starts?
You can burn the enigmah program onto a CDRW/DVD and boot off it to make sure the Xbox is set to NTSC. If it still doesn't start properly, attempt to ftp in, kill Evox and any saved info (under game saves in M$ dashboard) and reload it, or try booting off another dashboard.
Before my understanding was that the Xbox didn't boot at all, but now I think your eeprom is ok, which is good.
