heh, I'll bet it's one of the IBM deskstar drives he used,
they're commonly known as the 'deathstar' range as they keep dying!

swap out the hard drive for the original, see if that works,

if u read.. he was using his original hard drive.. thats what poped tongue.gif

dude just buy a new drive , get Slayers 2.1 , install the new drive with the power off, then power the xbox on when the new drive is in, open the cd tray, put Slayers 2.1 in and tell it to prepare the new hard drive, make sure that you tell it , that it's a "new bigger hard drive", in the little menu , that is all !!

and by the way bleugh i have a "DeathStar" in my machine, and i ve had it for over a year , nothing wrong with it at all, runs cool, no loud sound and no popping what so ever, some people are just really gullable and beleive everything and anything any jack ass dishes them ,   "Deskstars Rule"

buy a new hdd 40gb 80gb whatever put it in the xbox & use the slayer auto installer, as long as the mod is always on then there is no need for the hdd unlock codes.

the xbox will boot slayers direct from the cd, use build larg hdd option from the auto installer & let it work it's magic, after that you are good to go.

anyway.. u can resolve it 2 ways.. get a mates original hard drive.. unlock it..  then put it in urs.. and set the time.. then take it out.. and install ur new hard drive as normal!

or u can flash ur bios (external flasher) with the D.6 bios.. which skips the time check proccess..

cheers
Thankz Alot to all u guys who posted smile.gif..

Make sure the power is off and install the new hard drive.  Then use slayers install disk.  Word for the wise: Do not move your xbox while it is on!  A hard drive has tons of small pieces rotating at high speeds, and throwing off the balance can cause it to tear up on the inside.  I am assuming this is probably what your friend did to destroy his first hard drive.
