i was going to ask the same question. i wanted to take the 15inch lcd off of a broken laptop. it has the inverter (if that matters) and was wondering if i could hook it up to the xbox. lots of people have those smaller screens? is this possible thanks

I think there are two big challenges.  One, the voltages the screens use is weird/high/non-standard and the screens don't take a direct VGA signal.  That's just my understanding...haven't done this.

Sorry you cant use your laptop lcd screen.  There is no video input and no way to convert lcd board to accept anything.

Hi All,
I'm sure this has been covered before but i havent found any help searching unfortunately.

i have an old laptop (compaq e500 with TFT screen). I'd like to gut the screen out and use it as a mobile display for my xbox. so i dont have to lug the tv around on saturdays. ill worry about sound later (seems like an easier problem).

i dont mind buying the video to vga converter but then i have a vga out 15 pin that i need to attach to the ribbon on the tft screen. ive seen this done on one thread but the dude just posted pics and no tuts.

has this been covered? if not. is this possible? id REALLY love to do this mod. out of necessity but even for curiosity. would be tres cool.

many thanks,
mcsilvio

hmm sounds like the controller is built into the motherboard of the laptop.  it sound slike your going to have to buy a controller, lot of money here link earth lcd
unless i read your post wrong.  there should be a card coming off the creen that the vga could hook up to.  and an inverter on it.  if its just a screen w/ a ribbon it sounds liek u need a controller

i dont think you are going to be able to straight wire it in, because i have a 15" LG panel that i want to connect to the xbox, and its just not gonna wire in that way.

So say im willing to buy a controller or whatever for either an Acer screen or a Compaq Presario 1625. How do i find out wich one to get. It would be worth while to do this as so i can us my xbox in my dorm room. instead of in the library ( my school wont let us have tvs in the room)
