I have a 17" samsung with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024, and whoever said it looks bad when its at a different resolution either has a crappy monitor, or theyre retarded. Just make sure when your buying an lcd that hte response time is UNDER 12ms or else you'l start to notice some ghosting on dark games/websites. Mine is 8ms and I never really get any ghosting that I can notice.

Go with LCD all the way. Its new technology, very small and compact, its going to be replacing crt's. Like 90% of the time newer lcd's are clearer than crt's. It may be a bit more expensive, but its definately worth it.

I used to have a 21" crt and i replaced it with 17" lcd. Thats 4 inches I lost in screen size, and I'm glad I got this.

LCD's are less likely to work with the adapter because they're more picky about weird resolutions (ie the xbox hd resolutions).

In general a CRT is better.  A CRT is going to display images in a different way.  Basically a CRT always refreshes the pixels, while a LCD only updates specific ones.

anyway for gaming an LCD will look grainy and blurry at non-native resolutions, could display tearing, ghosting, and in general look dull.  Even high end LCD's often aren't that good for gaming, but most likely you wouldn't know the difference unless someone showed you one next to the other.

my crt's ooold, refresh rate of 65 hz.. and well being that low res makes me sad, it's running at a far higher res than it really should be. and i find it odd that you'd say that about lcds, yes, i've heard they're terrible for gamin gin most cases, but i thought that for general use the picture was supposed to be comparable to a printed image. but it's personal preference i guess.

how are CRT's destroying your eyes?  a CRT woudl be better than an LCD for your eyes, as they change instantly no waiting.
