Quick Decoder Upmix Question, Ddts-100
« on: November 09, 2005, 04:39:00 AM »

Hi all,

I've recently obtained a creative DDTS-100 decoder, my first decoder, wahoo!

Anyways, I'm wondering why in Ulx (in which 5.1 is NOT enabled) and other things such as Neogenesis, the dolby digital light is on? If I press the mode button I can switch back to stereo.

I however thought that I should be able to select pro logic 2 upmixing, music or movies, or DTS NEO:6 settings.... I'm using an optical cable.

My guess is that I must have an analogue input to use these upmix features? Not that I care about, I'm just wanting to understand my new toy more.

So what's it doing in dolby digital mode then? It outputs to all 5 speakers, but the source is stereo. What type of upmixing is it doing? (Something the xbox is doing itself perhaps?).

Dolby & DTS is of course enabled in the MS Dash, which also forces Dolby Surround on (so my best guess is it's in dolby surround - this is an upmix? How does it compare to PL2 or NEO?).

Much thanks
