Thanks Mr. Ed.  I've looked into this a little further and stumbled upon the S-video mod...does this help significantly?

The picture quality is quite noticable when you go from composite to s-video.  You'll get a much cleaner, sharper picture.

I used to believe that.  But as I've experimented, I become less enamoured with S-Video.

Quick Xbox Video Quality Question

i have a 32" toshiba crt non HD and a 55 wide rear projection samsung HDTV, on the 32" the difference between composite and svid just like the difference between svid and component on the samsung is unbelievvable, but between svid on both i prefer the toshiba, thers component and theres component HD, component HD is just as beutiful as component 480i on regu;ar sets, if you have a non HD component vs an HD component there is still a difference you can see but not as much, but crt vs projection it turns the tables a lil bit, to me and this is just my opinion but watching dvd movies i prefer svid on my toshiba vs 1080i on my projection both tv's playing with a prog scan dvd player, dvd's just arent wrote properly to me to handle the upscale unless its just my samsung, movies still arent crysteal clear or no where near as clear as HD programming from DTV
