X2vga Pass-through
« on: November 05, 2005, 04:10:00 AM »

I'm not totally sure, but I'd say that is the maximum that is allowed through the X2VGA. Kinda disappointing considering it's such a great unit. (I have the original version)

Maybe the only other option would be to get a VGA switchbox and use that instead - unless someone else proves me wrong.

X2VGA should not care.
How do you know you are only getting 60Hz?

X2vga Pass-through

Ok, after some fidling I found that I can trick the x2vga to output with the correct refresh rate (85Hz)  by booting into windows with the monitor plugged directly into the computer then switching the monitor off, plugging it into the vga-out of the x2vga and connecting the vga-in to my video card. When I switch the monitor on again the desktop refresh rate has been retained.

So its only when I boot into windows using the pass-through configuration of the x2vga that I cannot obtain the correct refresh rate. What exactly is the problem here?

Sounds to me like Windows cannot identify the monitor when you're using the pass-through. If it shows the monitor as "Default Monitor" instead of "Plug n Play", or the actual model then that's the problem. You could try forcing the monitor driver for your model then manually setting the refresh rate via display properties.
