Have you tried playing a game from dvd, hard drive maybe dieing or a bad IDE cable.

are the games he is playing PAL or NTSC? and does the TV he is using support both videomodes?

hmm, that doesnt look like your usual PAL/NTSC compatibility trouble

im certain its not a TSOP issue, im gonna move this to A/V Technical, youll probably find more help there
