Still Life - No 720p?
« on: September 18, 2005, 02:04:00 AM »

I just got hold of the US version of Still Life and everything I have read about it claims that it plays in 720p, but for the life of me, the only mode it will run in is 480p 4:3 standard - not even widescreen!

Is there any hack to get this to run in 720p or was the video mode removed at just the last moment?

ok, let's get the facts straight:
The man said it runs at 480p. Which is HD. Which means he's already changed the region setting to NTSC.
And for the record, PAL is way better than NTSC. The only benefit of NTSC in the xbox is that it enables you to use the HD resolutions -which actually have nothing to do with NTSC, but Ms deemed it appropriate to deprive Europeans and Australians of HD capabilites. There is also a HD PAL-equivalent resolution (576p) which is not available on the xbox.

Ferrari, where did he say he was running in PAL? He had success running in 480p so, he is infact running NTSC.  dry.gif

Indeed it is not a HD resolution. It IS however only possible on the xbox if you have HDTV enabled, which is what I obviously meant. My point being: He has enabled HDTV on the xbox.

If you look on the back of the box they claim 720 support , but only run in 480.

I don't in all honesty see how m$ can get away with this, it is false advertising in every sense of the law.
