MS doesn't make an all in one box with Component/SCART/Composite.
It might be a cheap thirdparty solution, so try an official MS HD pack.

MS HD pack has component video, RCA left right, and optical audio, no coax unless they have two different ones

I've heard that the MS pack isn't very good.  480p should work fine, but higher resolutions might suffer from interference.  i've heard people complain that 720p gets that double image problem.

I'd buy maybe a third party component cable (mine was $9).  if it doesn't work, you can try another one.  the first i bought had this problem, the second didn't.  Both about $9.

MS first party HD cables are top qaulity IMHO. Specially the new straight through cables with no break away box. IT works awsome and i get really good qaulity video.. So i dont know where u heard MS packs suck but there good qaulity

When people use the HD AV pack to make a vga cable for connecting to a PC, they say that the cables dont work so well on high resolutions.  I'm refering to the ones with the box.

Are you using any 720p or 1080i games?  The problems that i've heard of is problems with static images such as XBMC when using these cables on high resolutions like 720p or 1080i.  Higher resolutions are more prone to interference issues.

Also, just because you haven't had a problem doesn't mean the cables are good, other people might have setups where they have more interference and the MS component cables didn't handle it as well.

Anyway, try to keep the cables clear of power cords and other electronics and see if the problem goes away.

ypu could try using the monster cable component video cord.  Excellent picture quality.  only problem is if you want optical audio you have to buy a $30 adaptor on top of the 40 you already pay for the cord.

as i said, it might have to do with the conversion of the MS cable to a VGA cable that makes it bad, so maybe i'm wrong.  I've never used one, i've only used two third party ones, one that works great and one that doesn't.  I've used them on plasma screens, PC monitors, and digital projectors and the third party one has no double image on 720p or 1080i, however another 3rd party one did.

oh, btw I recommend decreasing your image size. 3m (I'm assuming horizontal) is too much for the NEC VT-47. Also, with a native resolution of 800x600, 1080i is overkill. Stick to 480p or 720p for better results.

Also, since you're so certain your cables and connections are not the source of the problem, there is obviously only one answer: poor AV pack quality. In any case, I would try using alternate cables, if possible, just to make sure.
If possible try using the same layout with a component-out capable DVD player and compare the images.

edit: typos (need sleep)

huh?? I'm assuming you mean analog coaxial (RCA), but even then, you are comparing apples and oranges. If you feed the (coaxial/optical) SPDIF to a hi-end preamplifier/decoder, you will ALWAYS get better audio waveforms than the analog outputs of the xbox or any cheap breakout box / AV pack.

WTF?  He's talking about coax digital audio vs. fiber optic digital audio, not analog.  dry.gif  And for the record, they are both the same quality except one has a cool red light and the other stays connected better.  biggrin.gif

wink.gif

however, meanwhile the MS HD AV Pak has arrived and i have checked it out a bit.

FIRST: Good News! the Image is awesome! x1080 = GREAT! so is x720 and x480 ... (only xbmc refuses playing movies/mp3/anythind while x1080 mode is active, so i move x720 there)

All Resolution's Double Images are washed away.

BUT, i have to complain:
- the Cable attached to the MS HD AV Pak cannot be changed
- the Cable is a bit short for ppl with beamers as long as u dont attach ur xbox to the ceiling or ur beamer to the ground/rack .

regards Simon

I got the official HD pack , strait cable no boxes , has gold plating ends , ect ect

I run every mods perfectly fine , altho my HDTV came with small peices you sorta wrap on your cables (it's just a clamp) and it's some sorta metal or magnet (hell if I remember) but it reduces unwanted interferance n all

But I havn't had the slightest prob , besides lightguns hating HD
