u guys gotta help me! i have an unmodded xbox that is screwing up! whenever it turns on, the screen is shifted to the right and stays shifted in all of my games except burnout 3. all the other games (halo 2, espn nfl 2k5, crimson skies, genma onimusha, etc.) are shifted. please help me people! i tried my friend's working a/v cable and tried it on my mom's tv. nothing works. help me!

thats a big problem.

have you tried to change any settign in teh ms dash?

whats the ms dash and how can i get to it? im sorry but im not much of a tech expert. is that part of the tv or the xbox or what? u gotta help me!

ms= MS

the ms dash is the green dashboard that loads up when you first turn teh xbox on if it isnt modded (softmod or modchip) and you dont have a dvd movie or game in teh dvd tray

in there somewhere, you can access the settings. try playign with the video settings, and see if anything in there fixes it

Is your Xbox PAL or NTSC? Make sure your TV supports whatever video mode your Xbox is outputting.

i know that if you try and run ntsc on a pl tv all you get is black and white picture.

not sure about the other way.

generally if your using the wrong standard, the picture is shit or non existant, not just shifted over.

can you get post a picture showing the screen moved over?

picture shift is related to your tvs overscan, in this case too much. Only one way to fix this is to access your tv's service menu and change the values there. be careful as you can mess your tv up.

i was thinking its a tv settign problem as well, but he said he tried it on another tv set and it does exactly the same thing.

that why i want a pic of whats its doing, just to see what it looks like.

its doubtfull a settign would be similarly wrong in two tv sets

ok, check the setting in the ms dash. i think youll find that one of them is up the shit.

This problem only happens on certain games and yes it is possible that 2 different tvs can have problems when using the rgb cables.

From my experience Sharp and Goodmans (though not as much as the sharp).

I fixed the problem on my sharp using the service menu.

Your other option is to use component cables that came with your xbox (Yellow , red , white)

Yellow, red, white are not component.

THe yellow (video) is a composite video cable.

Component video cables are red, blue, green, with an additional red,white for audio (and usually a digital optical connection).

I'm sure raydn has accidentially called composite 'component', hence the "came with your xbox".

If infact you are experiencing this problem using RGB SCART, then the 'RGB position' option in the TV's service menu will need to be accessed and adjusted.

so basically its a setting in your tv that needs to be adjusted. but only try that after tryign a different TYPE of cable. component, composite
