Just got this aswell, no 480p is f*cking disgracefull.  I'm also in the situation that I can't use it as I have an x2vga+ and only a monitor to play it on!!  I've searched for hex edits on here but can't find any.  Perhaps Raydn or one of the others could help us out here?

Ok, I found a solution. Download this replacement xbe http://forums.xbox-s...php?act=SR&f=60 . The link you'll find requires the use of eMule/eDonkey
That worked for me.

You do indeed need the ntsc default.xbe if you have the full Pal version and wish to run in 480p mode.  It is puzzling why Rock* chose to disable 480p for the Pal version as so many of us Pal users now have adaptors or widescreen tv's.

Anyway is illegal and against forum rules to post links to default.xbe files or sites that host them but it is not illegal to host a ppf patch that can be applied to an .xbe

So I have made a ppf patch which you can apply to the Pal default.xbe of GTA:SA and it will enable 480p mode.  Unfortunately I have nowhere to host the file and it is about 1.73mb in RAR format.

I will gladly email it to someone who can host it somewhere so all Pal users can also enjoy 480p and widescreen mode.

cheers
jo

The default.xbe you are downloading is nothing more than the USA NTSC version one with the region patched (and i doubt is well patched), using the NTSC version xbe of this concrete game has some incompatibilities if you are planning on ever using the standard PAL version (if you bought the game in your PAL country). Savegames and settings are not interchangeable between PAL and NTSC version, etc..

So i have made the hex patch for the PAL version default.xbe file that FORCES 480p output, i say "FORCES" because autodetection seems unlikely to make because some detection code is missing in the PAL xbe, but will still continue working in it.

GTA - San Andreas PAL (FORCE 480p patch)
=============================

Locate: 83 C8 20 F3 0F 11 05 0C
Change for: 83 C8 40 F3 0F 11 05 0C

That's all, hope this works for you

PS: I am Sauron-Jin, but can't use this account at this moment.

jo77 has emailed me a ppf patch that you can apply to PAL defualt.xbe to enable 480p.  If anyone wants it you can get it here.

I haven't tried the ppf myself (i ended up just doing SauronJin's hex patch which worked for me) but if anyone would like to confirm that it works that would be gravy beerchug.gif
