Pal Vs Ntsc
« on: June 08, 2005, 10:18:00 PM »

Just curious I'm playing on a DLP projector using HDTV outputs from the Xbox, and was curious if Pal games would look better if I got the NTSC versions?

I live in Canada so the video standard is NTSC.  Some of my games are NTSC and others are PAL.  I was just curious to whether the video regions of the games would affect the graphics.  Like if I a PAL games, would getting the NTSC version be an improvement for graphics?

U 2 keep fighting. I'm just gonna post my ideas.

You say pal is only 50hz and ntsc can be 60, or whatever, but PAL 60 has that name for a reason. I'm not saying i know what im on about, but just reminding u of pal 60.

U can keep fighting now

Right.  This is how I see it.

I'm going to assume that your Xbox is in NTSC mode, as HDTV is disabled when set to PAL.  Sadly I can only say I've tried the opposite of your scenario; NTSC games seem to default to PAL 50.  Now most games should run perfectly when forced to a different Hz (and I'm talking about NTSC games only for 60Hz being run in 50Hz, your PAL games will be partially 60Hz compatible).  However SOME games seem to have problems.  NTSC Megaman Aniversary collection runs slower in regular PAL, and I assume if the PAL version isn't 60Hz compatible (if there WAS a PAL version), it'll run faster in NTSC mode.

NTSC games will work 100% of the time, but most PAL games won't have a problem.  Don't hold me to that though =P

PAL 60 > NTSC > PAL 50.

'nuff said.

PAL is 50hz.

NTSC is 60hz.

PAL-60 is PAL at 60hz.

PAL also (in my opinion) has better colour than NTSC so it is my personal preference. my TV can switch between all 3 but i generally leave it on PAL-60

not necessarily over here in the UK and a lot of Europe NTSC is a common feature but no present in all TV sets.

90% of TVs support PAL 60 though.
