No Video And Audio

blink.gif . It had a x2.3b lite plus for about a year, and 1 day i would not get any video or aduio at all. the tv just had a black screen with no audio, didnt frag, and had a solid green led. I could eject the dvd drive, and it would ac t like it would boot, but with no audio or video how could you know? I tried every common thing to try but nothing changed. I eventually narrowed it down to the EEPROM, MXPX, or the Conexant video encoder. (Mine could not have been in a coma as is not a 1.0/1.1) I replaced the eeprom chip from a 1.2-1.5 mobo, and i got a frag now. I eventually gave up and traded it with some money for a working mobo (thanks apple:)

I have one v1.1 here that works otherwise, but does not give video or audio. Looked at the sync pulses with scope and they are vertical 26kHz and horizontal 33MHz (sic!), both way off. It works otherwise, boots, runs gentoox etc.  With fbset I can get bent and miscolored picture in RGB mode, all other modes are dead. I will change the Conexant video chip from another mobo and see if the chip is the guilty one.

sad.gif no video/audio/eject, 1.0 with Chameleon, start button gives steady green, eject gives flashing green, HD unlocks, tried switching Mode 1 Chameleon and hoped to see Cromwell 1.8 but still blank screen.  Chameleon BIOSs no langer open nor does MS Bios.

love.gif Problem fixed!  Xbox Very Happy!!!!
Initial Problem:
No video/audio/eject, 1.0 with Chameleon, start button gave steady green, eject gave flashing green, HD unlocked (used ATAPWD to confirm unlock), tried switching Mode 1 Chameleon and hoped to see Cromwell 1.8 but still saw blank screen.  Chameleon BIOSs no langer opened nor did MS Bios on TSOP.

This problem started when I accidently installed the IDE hard drive ribbon upside down to the hard drive.  I was reassembling the Xbox after trying to unlock a large old drive that was locked to a motherboard that I had installed in this xbox to unlock the large drive so that I could use the large drive with the newer motherboard.  The old motherboard was not working properly (Box had experienced lightning voltage fluctuation not cutoff by surge bar.  Assume that these battery fortified surge protectors would avoid this type of damage.).  I  wanted to salvage the locked large drive that is full of good stuff and storage space.

My modded Xbox was working perfectly using Slayers and the Xz 4983 BIOS until I did the IDE ribbon install error.

Solution:  pop.gif

I tried reflashing my Chameleon BIOS chip, but no success.   Today I obtained a fix of the problem by using a modification of the TSOP Coma Fix  that grounds points A18 and/or A19 on the MB as described by TIZZ78  in Llamma Xbox Forums (www.llama.com/xbox/repairs/console.htm).  The modification was written by Jujupinto85 in the article 'Multibios Guide: Making TSOP Split 4 Ways (v0.2)' in www.xbox-scene.com/articles/multibios-tsop.php.  Rather than using toggle switches, I used a dip switch bank (costs less than $3.  I installed the dip switch with doubleback tape right above audio/video connector on the inside of the box.  I used 30 AWG enameled wire, a $7 15 amp iron with 0.022in silver bearing rosin core solder and Tip Tinner and Cleaner (all stuff from Radio Shack).  I used a dissection needle to open points A!8, A19 and the ground on the board (The curved needles would also work good.  Just need to be able to rotate the needle easily.), so that I could easily slip the wire through the board prior to tinning the wire and then soldering.  A hotter iron would have made burning the enamel off faster.  But the 15 amp iron was perfect for sealing the tinned wire to the points.  By tinning the wires after sliding the wire through the holes, there was no potential problem with damaging the traces on the board. Very little heat was need to set the tinned wire.  Needed to smooth out a little roughness in the enamel above the tinned area in order to draw the tinned area into the holes on the board.  Then trimmed off the excess wire with nail clippers.  Used Scotch tape to secure wires to MB and Chameleon to keep flexing of wires from putting stress on solder joints.  Xbox booted up perfect with setting a dip switch for A19 to Ground.  Chameleon Chip now also worked perfect and goes straght into Slayers Dashboard.   cool.gif

Still need help unlocking my large hard drive that I lack I lack a working motherboard for.  I do have the board that has overheat marks on it from the lightning incident.  From LiveInfo, I have the password, HDDkey and Eeprom information for it.  Anyone have any ideas how to unlock it?  Any ideas on how to copy a locked drive?

Appreciate suggestions!!!!
