Best HDD:Samsung, WD, Maxtor, Seagate

My favs are Hitachi and WD.

Me and my freinds have 2 xboxes with Hitachi 160gb 7200 8mb cache, one with WD 2000JB, 2 with WD 1200JB, one with WD 2500JB one with WD 800JB, and a couple with seagates and maxtors.

I have had 2 maxtor 40GB drives die in my PC (yet another one is loud as hell, and wont lock), and 2 Seagates die in my Xbox (one was the stocker, just made grinding noises one day, then always booted up w/ error 7, the other was a 2 week old 120GB, just stopped spinning up and the board was really hot).

I also have a Toshiba 80GB laptop drive (5400rpm, 16mb cache) in one of my xboxes, and it works great. It locks, is silent, and stays very cool. (after an hour of playing halo 2 off the HDD evox said the temp was 92*F)

The hard drive doesn't cause the system to crash, Most of the time it is how the system manages the memory that causes it to crash

HAH! ask a computer pro... i've seen all the brands fail... the one that fails the most has been consistantly maxtor... followed by wd, and then by seagate, with the fewest failures... think of it this way..

what 2 brands of HD did fucking MS choose for the consoles... 75% seagate, 25% WD

seagate is the bitch slap of your face.

maxtor is alway racing to be first with something, before its even ready to be implimented in the real world..

seagate tests their shit and make its late but turns out best... (who's sata HDs are fastest?? leaving out raptors...)

and good ol' reliable WD... dies only when you kill it. they are the most shy of the companies... they are just now getting to 300gb drives.. and the raptor line kicks ass... i have had both version of them, currently have a 74gb and a 250 for backup.
