I turned it on and ive been using it for a few days now. The picture IMO is far better than any 27inch lodef CRT I have seen in a store.

So right now I am one happy camper.
But could this really be from 1989? It seems really advanced for being that old. I didn't even know svideo existed back then. Much less a quality color TV like they make today.

Haha nice man, you can always get good deals on stuff at yard sales lol. I always come across things that "seem" to be broken but just need a little elbow grease.. or a flip of the switch. Hey were cable box buddys... except mine has a usb port to the left of the card slot for some reason.

Dude get a grip.  S-Video existed long before that time on LaserDisc players.  And S-VHS VCRs were introduced in 1987, and that's when S-Video connectors started becoming downright common.  By 1991 I didn't own a VCR that wasn't S-VHS nor did I connect any video devices with anything other than S-Video.   beerchug.gif

Component video (3 RCA connectors) I believe was out by 1990, although it wasn't yet ready for HD signals.

i bought my first tv in like 97 from douglas tv and told the guy i wanted the best video input, i picked up a 32" toshiba crt which still works wonderful today,same great crip picture, but Svid was the highest, those guys said nothing about component when i bought my set, i didnt know much back then as i do now, but still it has only Svid in, at least that sony has an Svid output, my buddy has an old trinitro though 36" crt not flat and it has Svid, prolley around 92 or something, i helped him move it , that thing was heavy with not one good place to grab it from, plastic digging into your hands no matter where you tried to hold it from

I got it for 5 bucks.

@deacon,
I know what you mean. I had to crayy this thing to my car then later up 2 flights of stairs. It weighs a good 110 or so pounds. Needless to say it was a 2 man job but I managed on my own. Afterwards my hands were all scraped up and I had almost been crushed.
