Easiest way to tell is if it has component cables.  You also must have a AV pack that has component cables (MS or Monster cables are the best).

You will need a transcoder like Vdigi to connect to the VGA port. But if your console is PAL, you will need to convert it to NTSC first.

Component inputs do not mean HDTV. Please do not confuse people with that. There are plenty of good old tube TV's with component inputs, I have a philips one, but it is not HD. It can't even do 480p. There are three types of component connections.

Interlaced component - a.k.a. component; Y, Pb, Pr; Y, Cb, Cr; 480i
Progressive component -  a.k.a. component; Y, Pb, Pr; Y, Cb, Cr; 480p
Broadband component -  a.k.a. component; Y, Pb, Pr; Y, Cb, Cr; wideband component; 1080i; 720p; HDTV

A Tube TV (only 480i) can have interlaced component. A EDTV (only does 480i, 480p) will have progressive components. An HDTV (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i) will have broadband components. tongue.gif

Uh, he didn't say having component inputs made it an HDTV, he said that not having component inputs makes it NOT an HDTV.  Big difference there.

I just didnt want people to read it and get confused thinking that component meant HDTV. Then again in all technicality a TV with just HDMI or DVI (no components) that supports HD resolutions can be used as an HDTV with a proper HD tuner, just like an HDTV ready set.

At the end of the day, it is likely that helious will be able to get a minimum of 480p through that VGA or DVI port, thats why I suggested a transcoder. The TV model number would help to varify this.

helious, 480p, won't be HDTV quality, but it is far superior to your next best input (which is SCART). And there is also the chance that your display will support 720p/1080i also.

And yes, that video switching software (enigmah) is what you use to change the Xbox to NTSC. smile.gif

Buy the X2VGA instead...
Then you wont need to buy any component cabels for the xbox.

You will love XBMC in 720p!!

Why will it be in the wrong aspect ratio? You can choose widscreen or 4/3 in ms dashboard.
