Fuzzy Video Output

My XBOX is hard modded with a mod chip and it's fairly new since I bought it last summer refurbished from MS.

I bought a Mad Catz Universal S-Video cable so I can use it on all of my systems (not at the same time).  When I use it on my PS2, it looks fine although the difference is pretty subtle.  When I use it on my XBOX however, it looks really crappy.  The picture is fuzzy so I can't even tell if there is that much of a difference between composite and S-video.  When I use the 4th cable to get S-video it's fuzzy, but when I unplug it, the picture is just fine.  Does anyone know why this is happening?  I'm thinking that it may be because the cable isn't dedicated to the system so it might not operate as well.
