As far as I know, no....I think you need 5.1 channel analog output on the xbox for starters...you can probably play some dvd-audio if the discs have a dolby digital version on them, which it seems like a lot do, but you only get surround sound, not high resolution sound as the discs will indicate....and for sacd, I think that's totally different drive.....5.1 analog output is needed because the toslink connection doesn't have enough bandwidth for the true dvd audio sound.

DVD-A has a resolution depth of 24bit and is sampled at 96KHz onwards.

SACD using a one bit system but with a mad sample rate something like 2.8MHz, can't remember now. Neither system is compatible with each other or the XBOX. Id the 360 doesn't support DVDA etc, it's no biggy as both formats will be dead soon in my opinion.

For cheap playback systems DVDA and SACD are very good, but a top CD player is better than DVDA and SACD. I have attended Naim Audio trials and heard this for myself. However with everything A/V opinions means shit.

New disc technology with way bigger capacities aren't far away, like 300 layer holographic discs. Tests have also indicated that the human ear cannot percieve any increase in perceptable detail about 20bit so go hear it all before you want it. As a general rule half the sampling FQ is the bandwidth so 44100 gives a bout 20 - 20KHz. This is why records are vastly superior to everything digital at any price. A good pickup will do 5 - 100KHz.

This discussion could gone on but I'm gunna shut up now.
