I ordered the Logitech z-5500 5.1 surround sound package with the encoder, and it works like a charm....sounds great. it has a optical input, and for the price you can't beat a better deal. check it out at the Logitech website. if you're interested in it, shop around the internet...i bought mine for 270.00

But I found an alternative that might work ok. It's some strange unknown brand:
http://www.pixmania....inema-syst.html

I found a link to this page somewhere else, and there it said that it has optical in, but on the pixmania page it doesn't really say that. So i've written thme an email and should be getting to you guys soon with the answer. If anybody out there should be looking for a very cheap alternative smile.gif

Hopefully within 2 days...but you know these big sites. It can takes weeks for them to respond. If so, i'll by a Sony package : http://www.pixmania....dlangueparle=uk

which look pretty nice too, but almost 3 time the price sad.gif  But more powerfull, and probably better speakers.. ( you should think so right? hehe...or are you just paying for the brand and the design unsure.gif  )

good hunting, personally I think Sony does make good A/V Equipment and are sometimes pricey, but usually reasonable. I believe if you are going for quality sound for the price, you will not be dissappointed with the logitechs. theses speakers are very loud for their size, and I was actually surprised at how heavy the speakers actually were, crazy. also if money is an issue than the z-680's are cheaper, it is the same thing minus the cool lcd screen (even though the z-680's have an lcd screen it isn't backlit I dont think), a smaller subwoofer, and a few watts. I heard somewhere (don't remember where) that the z-680's are discontinued but I think newegg.com has them.

anyway if you have any questions about the speakers let me know.

Good luck on your hunt

That I will need to clarify before buying, but think it's going to be hard.

The Z-680 looks nice, and has gotten top reviews everywhere I looked, but the thing is - I live in Denmark. And here the Z-680 costs aproximately 440 dollars... sad.gif

That's just too much money for my budget. I can get the Sony or another brand called Amitech with the same technical stuff like DTS encoding, optical in, incorporated DVD player for about 315 dollars.

I just pray that the strange "Haier home cinema system" has optical in. Acording to the tech info it actually has DTS encoding for about 118 dollars. That's pretty awesome tongue.gif

But Pixmania couldn't give me the details, so now I have written the Haier Group in Italy. But that seems a bit far fetched, but then again they need to give some customer support...

I'll get back to you when they write and if they write hehe...

See ya.. smile.gif
