My Xbox Output Is Dull. It's Hard To See Sometimes

I'm really going to be pissed if I have to buy a new tv and new consoles.

before you ask, i've tried different composite cables (official), different plugins, and an rf unit. It still looks the same! Washed out!

Could I have shorted out the plug-in or (god hope not) the tv or xbox and the other systems themselves?

Sounds like a problem with your AV connector or worse, your video chip.

Try your XBOX on another TV with some other cables....if the problem persists, it's your XBOX.

you also might want to find a friend with an Xbox and try it on your TV to. Help rule that out as a culprit.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but have you tried adjusting you brightness / contrast on you TV yet?

Seems like it would be the culprit being as how all you consoles seem "dim".

I tried my XBOX on another tv, one with a 3 line digital comb filter and there was no difference. The colors were still washed out.

I can't say what has failed with 100% accuracy, but since it gradually got worse (I'm assuming), I'd suspect a failed/failing coupling capacitor in the video output section/s of the XBOX. Find someone with electronic knowledge if you don't feel 100% around PC boards and soldering. You could try a little freeze spray on each cap in the area while watching the video, look for one that's swelled or leaking, or temporarily jumper the suspect cap and see if you have improvement. I doubt that any IC or semiconductor has failed.

Hope this helps.
