First of all, yes I'm a mod. I could delete your posts, edit your messages, etc. Have I done anything to you that makes you feel I treated you differently because I'm a mod?
I don't think that's an issue. I do have a question...what country are you from? Maybe that's why we see things differently. In the US, while component video *did* exist in the consumer space before HDTV, it wasn't common at all. Now, in broadcast that's diff, but that doesn't apply here. Maybe in the UK and Europe component was more common. If that's where you are from I'd understand then.
My other question might be...are you on the broadcast side of things? Obviously what's common in broadcast is different than consumer. I'm only talking about consumer stuff, although I have some experience with broadcast. Obvious diff between connections is professional equipment uses BNC connectors instead of RCA connectors for component video which consumer stuff tends to use. I am aware that component video connections Y/Cr/Cb have been common for a while in the professional equipment. Maybe that's where our discussion is not making sense. I'm talking consumer, your talking pro/broadcast. Anyway...
Component didn't start appearing a whole lot in consumer devices until HDTV. As you've already agreed with me, that's Y/Pb/Pr.
I don't even know what you are arguing about now, as it seems you are agreeing with me.
And for the record, my title on this site and my post count don't make me an expert. If you asked me about softmodding an XBOX I would tell you to find someone who knows more. However, I am an expert in HDTV as well as many other things XBOX related and non-XBOX related.
And lastly as we are talking about consumer video, I don't know how else you would attempt to determine the most common connection type except by sampling a cross section of TVs at a common consumer outlet which you seem to feel is flawed logic.
