Hi!

My X-Box is hooked up to a Samsung Plasma TV (PS42S4) by component cable.
When I try to play a Game like Halo it´s almost impossible to control movements. There seem to be som kind of delay in the picture which has following effect:

You run on a platform and want to jump to the next one...at the edge of the first platform you press jump...but then you fall down because in the game you have allready passed the edge....however on the Plasma tv it looks like you are on the edge when you press jump. Hope you understand....

Another problem with this is when you play system link whith someone who is hooked up to a standard tv....no matter how good you are....it's impossible to beat the one with the standard tv... he can see everything some milliseconds before you...and this advantage is enormous in close combat.

Have you experienced the same problem as I, and du you have any solutions?

are you plugged directly into the plasma? or through a set-top box?

its nothing to do with comb filters

go out and buy the high definition a/v pack from MS

plasma tvs are high definition, there will always be delay or breakups in the picture if the signal you're sending it isn't high definition as well

I was under the assumption that he did have the hd pack bc look . . .

and on some hdtv's the processing in them can cause milliseconds in delays, add that up and it could cause a lag. I said I didnt think that was it but when you troubleshoot you try every option!

what the heck does that mean? are you talking about native resolution? because i can see how you could construe that but honestly, that simply isnt true, were talking about a possibly up to 10 foot run, maybe more. If it was dvi cable MAYBE you could say that, but he said it was a component connection. his pack might be faulty but definately not due to it being in hd or not

the component video and high definition packs are different

a plasma tv is HD(high definition), it is ment to run HD signals, this is why you have a delay, the tv is ment for HD signals, go and spend $20-30 and buy the HD a/v pack from MS and it will solve all the problems you're having

Let´s solve the question about the cable. I'm using this: http://chipper.se/im...t-cable_LRG.jpg
(my cable is a little different. There is an optical out as well)

It's a HDTV-cable (copy). Can it really be any different from the original pack?

The picture delay is there with s-video, rgb/scart or component. Component is the one that woks best...s-video and rgb is useless...more lag and low quality.

My box is a PAL 1.5 chipped with xenium ice. Changed video mode to NTSC, with 480p and 720p enabled.

no palsama tvs suck i tried every cable and still a delay occured with me, so i return my palsma and got me a 42 rear projection hdtv tv and a couple boxes awsome now

480p is a normal tvs display, a plasma tv uses 1080i, an hd display, you're attemting to display a 480p signal on a 1080i display, making the signal weaker cause its only using half the lines, hence the HD A/V pack, which upconverts the 480p signal to 1080i, progressive scan is hd, only hd tvs have the ability to use progressive scan, ive done vast amounts of research on tvs, sinve i want to work in that field, if the signal that is being sent to an hd tv, is not an hd signal, there will be delays, buy the hd a/v kit and your problem will go way

also halo is 1080i, i have an xbox magazine that explains it further and halo is the game used to show the difference

Acrossbetween and Ladiesman--you two could have avoided all this
debate on HDTV by just looking up the model of his set. Its not even
an HDTV. Its an EDTV 480p native res. Enabling 720p and 1080i in his
dash will only make matters worse. The best he can do is 480p on that
set.
