I dont think the audio files are *.viv I'll check when I get home but from a quick search on  the net I discovered that the viv video/audio standard is out of date and also I saw numerous references to EA's Need for Speed 3 (not NFS:underground series)on the PC which contained viv files but they were not audio or video files.

You could try playing files thru XBMC, that has a huge amount of codecs

Hee-Hee: ea audio convertor probably what you were looking for but we'd be very lucky if it works with newer EA audio files

But I think you have to extract the audio from *.big file or something first. I wish I was at home so I could try this.

ps is there a particular game you are interested in?

I would like to be able to edit the songs in the Fight Night series or MVP.

Sorry about not getting back to you, I've become totally addicted to playing Halo2 on Kai and my pentium II heap of junk died at long last but I'm getting a HUGE upgrade to a Pentium III tonight (well, it's a big step for me!) . I'll play around with this 2moro night and let you know how it goes.

In the meantime you could try this program for extracting files from *.big files:
finalBIG

And use this to convert the extracted *.asf to *.wav and vice-versa:
SNDview

I got the link to finalBIG from a thread in the "Game Hacking" forum on xbox-scene:
fight night thread and maybe that's where this topic should be continued (for the sake of the moderators)

If you read that thread you can see they had some problems so maybe a bit more interest would get the ball rolling again.

Just saw this as well, kinda makes the FinalBIG redundant:
xurc instead of finalBIG
