Video B/w Out Of Sync. B/w Snowy W/o Chip

I'm having this odd problem with a friends xbox that I modded several months ago.

When I turn it on The screen is in Black and White and out of sync.  If I remove the mod chip (except for the d0) I get the 05 screen I can see it, it's in sync, but the video is still in black and white and pretty fuzzy/snowy.

I tried 2 video cables.  Any suggestions, or is the video chips or the connector fux0red?
