also the difference between Y Cb Cr and RGB? i got a Y Cb Cr component cable for the xbox, is this the same as the official HD pack? and does it matter if my BNC connectors in my monitor say R G B and not Y Cb Cr?

BTW mods Plz fix the dammed edit function!

OK this makes no sense, i can unplug the Cb and Cr plugs and leave the Y connected the picture remains on my monitor, and still green, WTF have i done? have i got the wrong component cable?

well r g b and y cb cr is the same thign i think youll find. try plugging them in and out while the monitors on and see if you can get it working.

but also, you should be able to plug a normal video rca (with bnc adaptor) into the hd input.

The fact that you have an all green picture says that your cable is correct.  The problem you are having, and as you have guessed right, is the vga bios are not enabled.  So you need to start your search from there, and stop worrying about the cable, because it is correct.  Also, there is no need to mess with the pin setting on the AV cable if you have a MS HD pack and your BNC cable.  Just plug everything together.

First, i would make sure your iND- bios 5001 vga are correct.  Try the bios when on a regular connection (with composte/component/or s-video cables on a regular TV).  The pictures colors should not be correct; it should be all a deep puke green (a different color of green then what you are seeing on with your vga cable on your monitor).  If this is the case then the vga bios are enabled.

Now assuming that the vga bios are indeed working, and it is still not working with your vga cable on your monitor, then there must be something wrong with the compatibility with your xbox version.  But you said it was a ver 1.1, and should work.  Just make sure it is a ver 1.1.

Also, what kind of chip/softmod are you using?

In my thread, I said to use High Def Mode (11-12, 13-14) to enable 480p mode in the xbox dashboard.  After switching the dashboard to 480p, you will then need to enable VGA Mode (9-10, 13-14).  Most monitors will support 720p, but not 1080i.
You are still able to select high def modes with VGA Mode (9-10, 13-14).

(NOT Jameson42's... Jameson's is for high def mode, which is NOT VGA mode), shown below.

I don't mean to cause problems here, but I've done a bit of testing and have never seen 720p work on my monitor unless I enable hi-def mode on my breakout box...  I can do some more testing this weekend when I have some time.
