hi all i want to use my new Logitech Z-5300 5.1 system to the max.
is there away to get more outputs out the xbox now i get 2 but can i get more with new av cable or some modding.

Logitech Z-5300 5.1 it use 3 pc minijacks for input .

do i need a XBox High Definition AV Pack

wath i can see on the picture it that it has 6 tulp outputs 1 for video i think and the other for sound can i bu some convertors from tulp to minijack and hook them on.
i think i need 2 tulps for one stereo mini jack. by tulp i mean the rgb thing on your scart connector.

You'd need to use a digital connection, in this case either digital coax (cinch, rca connector or tulp as you refer to it...however you wanna call it) which uses cable similar to the red+white+yellow cables, or Toslink which uses fiber optic cable.

Once you have the hardware set up, just turn on DD5.1 and/or DTS in the dashboard (Settings/Audio). This will only become selectable if you use either:

• Advanced A/V Pack
• HD A/V Pack
• Self-installed A/V ports with either mode switches installed or the modes "permanently" set on the AVIP port

Those other connectors are for HD video, not audio.

You need to buy speakers that accept optical digital to do what you want.  Your speakers are not compatible with the XBOX.

Or a Dolby Digital decoder which is (probably) more expensive than your speakers...

can you give me some more info on that i was planning to do that. do i need 2 soundcards? or will one with n-force 2 chipset with optical digital in, do fine.
other ? do you need a heavy pc for 5.1 cards i have a pentium 2 333mhz that i dont use.
can i use that for a sound decoder.

I have been wanting to the thread but my posting privledges have been suspended. I accidentally posted a link to an xbe.


The Nforce 2 is an motherboard chipset. I don't know of any soundcards with this chipset.

Maximum PC magazine did a review of these speakers they complained about not being about to get 5.1 with these speakers and an an audigy becuase the audigy cannot send 5 channels of audio information through the digital out. I have since searched google (see link below) , and it appears that some information supports that.

I just got the speakers today and hooked them up via optical to my Xbox and via composite to my computer which has a Soundblaster Live 5.1.

With the computer, as long as the player I am using supports spdif out, and the file I am playing has 5.1 information , like a dvd or ac3 file, it will do the total dolby thing and the DOLBY light comes on the speaker controler.

But with games that are dolby digital, DOOM3 NFS2UG, there is no option for the SPDIF out, and it will only do stereo to the front and rear channels.

Anyway I am happy with the speakers and I am happy to find they it willl do 5.1 in certain circumstances.

The "games" refference above is only about PC games. On the XBOX, NFSU2 and THUG2, (the only games I am playing at the moment), are all dolby-ed out.
