C:_ Mod Chip off, I hear the xbox default entry music play but no video, after music stops I get FRAG the dreaded flashing red and green, Now this I think is caused by the fact that I don’t have a locked hard drive, even my stock drive is unlocked, I forgot to lock it before taking it out….  If I could just get the thing to read a disk somehow.

You're saying with the mod chip off, if you put in an original game it still won't boot?

You have much more serious problems and it's coincidence that it happened when you set it to widescreen.

yeah. changing it to WS would just make the video different. if you had a smartxx, you can change shit like that... what probably happened is you switched it to pal without realizing it

Ok, I can update the OS on the chip by using the switch, I mean I never get any video, but when I put the cdrw with the hdd version of 2.01 on it in the drive and reboot, the chip starts as red, then it reads the disk and turns green, then goes to amber to blue back to a brighter green, then the box turns off.  Which I've read is pretty much what should happen.  Then I turn on the power with the chip in the normal mode and the chip turns green and stays green but the Eject LED is red, solid red, then the box reboots after about 6 or 8 seconds, and just cycles like that
the chip goes from like green, to a bright green, and stays that way until it reboots.  I can't boot from ANY cd's in this mode.

If I take the chip off i just hear the xbox music then as soon as it ends I get flashing red and green.  Can't get the enigma video switch iso to work either, wont boot from it with chip off, in safe mode or in normal mode.  I think I'm past my means here.

I've checked and rechecked my soldering, I did a clean job on it and my chip was working perfectly fine until I changed to PAL from NTSC, now the box just doesn't seem to want to run.

Anyone have an idea of how to fix it, even if it will require a replacement eeprom soldering job or something, ANY AND EVERYTHING is a possibility and I'm willing to pay for it.

Thanks

Chris

Get the reset to factory defaults version of the recovery.bin and create another cd. This should reset the chip to the exact same state it was at when you first got it. IF that works don't back up the tsop Flash a newversion of whatever bios you were using, or re-use the slayer install. I believe you can restore the default bios and dash from there.

But if you have an older tv and it was the just settig the video to 16:9 that can kill the display on the tv, but this should give you a shot at fixing it. IFf not there are plenty of installers who will help you out and it still would be cheaper than starting over witha new Xbox.

You still haven't answered my original question of:

There are two things I can think of off hand. Does your Tv support PAl and NTSC in the settings? You could try setting it to PAl and see if it does. I just did this deliberately to mine and it worked. ph34r.gif

That should have been if your TV does support Pal, switch it to Pal and see what it does.
