QUOTE (Master-Chief @ Oct 27 2004, 02:31 PM)
So nobody has any ideas?  huh.gif

Reading through the previous posts I found the following ideas:

The MS XBOX Live headset is good enough/worth the money, so this isn't worth doing.

The headset is USB so even if you did another USB headset wouldn't work as there would be no drivers for it on the XBOX.

Assuming you could get the MS XBOX Live headset connector (the "usb" device that plugs into the controller) you could wire up pretty much any headset as it uses a standard mini jack like on a cell phone.

Not sure what else you were looking for?   unsure.gif

Lol... that's the expensive part!  laugh.gif

I was wondering that SOCOM headset would work with a USB port in my memory card slot, but I don't have the headset.

hey there,

Got a few questions for you forum hoppers out there,

1. Is it possible to make a homebrew communicator?
2. Could someboby post a pic of the inside of the communicator?
3. Could somebody describe how the communicator works?

I dont know how the thing works or whats inside, i just know that i dont really want to shell out $50 (im canadain so it really is $50) to talk on Halo 2.

Any thoughts on the questions would be good.

Thanks

I don't think you can.  This was a problem with early dancemats as well that didn't have the memory card/expansion port for the headset.

smile.gif) into my Xbox. Can I use a USB microphone/headset to talk with people on Xbox Live? Will the Xbox "see" the microphone?

Seeing as how I don't actually have a USB microphone, and buying one would defeat the entire purpose (USB microphone is just a few dollars cheaper than the official Xbox Live microphone)... can I use the microphone built into my USB webcam somehow? When I plug the webcam into a computer, a red light illuminates. When I plug the camera into the Xbox, however, nothing happens. Is there some way that I can make my Xbox "see" the microphone in the USB webcam?

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this idea =>
I've got a modded xbox and a microphone (1/4" and 1/8" inputs)...

I want to make a microphone input similar to the one from the XBL communicator.

I don't need an earbud or anything, just a mic in on the controller.  I know there's some form of DAC (that's what's in the module you insert in the controller) ...

Here's the thing: I have an old discman sitting here, with a DAC, and a mic.  Is there any way possible for me to MAKE a module, rather than wasting my hard-earned (I'm a university student, and can't afford the $40-50 canadian for one) money on a mic?

PS... this is strictly for karaoke and the game karaoke revolution.  NOT for online, or Kai, or anything like that.

Merged another couple of topics.

The answer to most questions in this thread is....NO

Remember if you custom make or use another 3rd party USB microphone that was not designed for the XBOX, the XBOX probably won't even recognize it as it won't have USB drivers for the microphone you install.  Although there is a standard generica "mass storage device" driver supported by all USB implimentations (which is why to connect a USB hard drive you don't need to install a driver) I don't believe that's true for microphones.

If, however, you have the XBOX XDK you could probably program a driver for your own microphone.
