Xbox 480p

I have a pretty nice Philips 27" HDTV, about two years old. It has a set of component ins for NON-progressive scan, and another set of component ins to be used ONLY with progressive scan. I bought the Hi-Def AV Pack, and now I'm trying to get my Xbox to run in progressive scan. The problems I'm having are these:

1) When I plug in the cables to the NON-progressive inputs, I get NO picture. So if I'm not playing in progressive mode, the best picture I can get is from S-Video cables. And before you tell me, yes, I know that component (non-progressive) is not a BIG step up from S-Video, but humor me.

2) When I plug in the cables to the progressive inputs, I get a very screwed-up picture. I memorized the "path" to get to through the dashboard to the HDTV settings, but changing them doesn't make my picture any less screwed up. This goes for starting the system with a disc in the drive, and without (going straight to menu).

I have a GameCube that works when plugged in either set of inputs (although the picture bleeds off the sides a bit in 480p mode), so I'm pretty sure my TV itself isn't completely borked.

Anyone know a solution to this? Is it even worth it to try to get it running in 480p, if I'd have to switch inputs when using a game that didn't support it?

That's pretty weird.  Is your XBOX unmodded?  You using the MSDASH?  Have you tried your A/B HD pack on another HDTV to verify it is working?

The Xbox is modded... whether the chip is on or off makes no difference.

Yes, I am (when the chip is off). Evox when it's on.

I have done this as well, works with a friend's box.

On my tv two of the component ins were switched (either that or on my receiver two were switched) since with both my xbox and my pc it was all screwy, yet just recognizable enough. so i had to just play around until i hit the right combination. There are nine possible combinations so.. maybe you didn't get the right one yet.

two of the component ins were switched... so you had to put the green cable into the red connector (or something similar)?

You need to hex edit the ms dash to auto switch from interlaced to progressive.
I think its pinned.

I had the Same porblem, I have a 32" widescreen phillips, and one of the inputs is progressive only.  Hex edited the Ms dash, and it worked.
I use the MS dash as my dashboard, and the DVD player works in progressive to.

Solid... it's running smooth in 480p now, and looking nice. One more question. The picture bleeds off the screen slightly on the right... not a big deal during movies, but players2 and 4 are at a significant disadvantage in Halo, or anything similar... any solution, or is this a problem with my TV, and thus unsolvable (My 480p/1080i input channel on the TV has no options to mess with the picture)?

Service codes are something I need to get from the manufacturer based on my TV model number, yes?

I'll start looking for those discs... I know netflix and the like rent them, what about Blockbuster/Hollywood Video?
