Soundtrack's Corrupted

Got a nice big HDD in my xbox now.  Everything else is fine, but I can't rip audio cds (it doesn't recognise them as such) and I can't create new soundtracks / ftp music to the xbox (I used to be able to do this fine) from within Xbox Soundtrack Editor v0.97.  Error message is something along the lines of 'can't retrieve soundtrack information'

Any ideas?
